Privacy Policy

Plain English first

We built ON TAP to be a bar, not a surveillance operation. We collect what we need to make the app work and nothing more. We do not sell your data. Ever.

What we collect

Account information: Your username, home state, and age verification result (we confirm you're 21+ but do not store your actual birthdate). No real name, no email required to use the app.

• •What you post: Your photos, captions, drink selections, ratings, and bios. These are shared publicly within ON TAP as you intended when you posted them.
• •Location: Only if you choose to share it for bar check-ins. We use your GPS coordinates to find nearby venues and show your bar name and city to other users. We never store your raw GPS coordinates after venue lookup is complete and never share precise location with other users or third parties.
• •Device information: Standard technical info like your device type and browser version to keep the app running properly.
• •Usage data: How you interact with the app — which features you use, when you post — to improve the product.

What we do not collect

• •Your real name
• •Your email address (unless you provide one for account recovery)
• •Your actual date of birth
• •Your precise GPS coordinates beyond the venue lookup moment
• •Your contact list or social connections outside ON TAP

How we use your data

• •To run the app and show your posts to other users
• •To power features like the heat map, leaderboards, trending drinks, and state rivalry
• •To send you notifications you have opted into
• •To moderate content and keep the app safe
• •To improve the product over time

We use Claude AI (by Anthropic) to analyze post content for moderation, identify drinks from photos, and generate personalized features like taste profiles. Photos and captions may be processed by AI for these purposes. We do not use your content to train AI models.

Third party services

We use a small number of trusted services to run the app:

• •Stripe for payment processing if you subscribe to ON TAP Pro. We never see or store your full card number.
• •Spotify for song search in posts. Song searches are subject to Spotify's privacy policy.
• •GIPHY for GIF search in comments. GIF searches are subject to GIPHY's privacy policy.
• •Uber and Lyft deep links for the ride home feature. Tapping those buttons opens their apps under their own privacy policies.
• •Google Places API for bar venue lookup from GPS coordinates.

Sharing your data

We do not sell your personal data. We do not share it with advertisers. The only sharing that happens:

• •Your posts, username, and public profile info are visible to other ON TAP users as intended
• •We may share data with law enforcement if legally required
• •If ON TAP is acquired, user data would transfer to the new owner under the same privacy commitments

Your rights

You can delete your account at any time from the Me tab settings. Deleting your account removes your profile, posts, and personal data within 30 days. Some anonymized aggregate data like state pour counts may remain as it cannot be individually attributed. You can request a copy of your data by contacting us.

Children

ON TAP is strictly for users 21 and older. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 21. If we discover an underage account it will be immediately terminated.

Changes to this policy

We will notify you in the app if this policy changes in a meaningful way.
